Kate Marquis is a MA Licensed Forester working out of the Brimfield Center and is responsible for serving landowners throughout Massachusetts. Prior to joining NEFCO, Kate has worked as a state Service Forester, as a private consultant forester, and as a forester for W.D. Cowls, Inc. Passionate about connecting people to forestry, Kate has served as Chair of the Massachusetts Tree Farm Committee, as a contributor to the Massachusetts Environmental Literacy Plan, is a representative on the Mass Forest Alliance's Forester Council, and volunteers for local schools to help teach students about sustainable forestry. In 2020, Kate was awarded a 40 under 40 award by the Worcester Business Journal for the work she does as a forester.

Kate works with lands of any acreage, writing chapter 61, 61A, 61B, forest stewardship, and foresters for the birds management plans. Kate enjoys assisting people in seeking cost-share for work being conducted on their land, such as invasive species removal, tree and shrub planting, and timber stand improvement. Helping landowners reach their goals through detailed planning, timber harvests, or other activities such as installing bird nesting boxes on their land is important to Kate. Trained through the Northern Institute of Applied Climate Science, Kate integrates site specific information pertaining to climate resiliency into all of her plans. Kate graduated from UMass Amherst in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in forestry.
